Biggest rule change in badminton history: BWF approves new scoring system
The Badminton World Federation has approved the biggest rule change in modern badminton, replacing the long-standing 3x21 scoring format with a new 3x15 system from January 2027. While BWF says the move will improve player welfare and make matches more exciting, former world No. 1 Saina Nehwal had warned against changes that could affect the spirit of the sport.
