In a significant step towards transforming Madhya Pradesh into one of India's leading industrial hubs, Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav laid the foundation stone for a new state-of-the-art manufacturing facility of LiuGong India Private Limited at the Pithampur Industrial Area (Sector-3) in Dhar district.
The new manufacturing plant, being developed with an investment of approximately ₹272 crore (US$32.8 million), is expected to strengthen the state's industrial ecosystem while reducing India's dependence on imported heavy construction machinery. The project is also expected to accelerate infrastructure development across the region.
LiuGong, one of the world's leading manufacturers of wheel loaders and heavy construction equipment, will primarily manufacture advanced excavators at the new Pithampur facility. The plant is designed with an initial annual production capacity of 6,500 construction machines, positioning Pithampur as an important global manufacturing destination for heavy equipment.
The project is expected to generate substantial employment opportunities for local youth, boost ancillary industries, and attract additional investments to the region. It also reinforces the Madhya Pradesh government's "Make in MP" initiative, aimed at promoting manufacturing, industrial expansion, and economic growth within the state.
The new facility is anticipated to enhance the global recognition of the "Made in Pithampur" brand while strengthening India's position as a competitive manufacturing hub for mining and construction machinery.
Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav said:
